How to live Skinny

What's this 'living Skinny' malarkey all about? It's about doing more with less, being a bit crafty with your cash, and saving it to spend on the stuff you really want, like a cat to make videos of. Or a onesie.

Skinny tips

Save on voicemail

1. Calling your voicemail costs money. What most networks don't tell you is that you can turn it off, and we still tell you who has called (we send you one of those 'missed call' type texts anyway, and they are free). If you are a tightwad and want to avoid the expense, you can turn off your voicemail by calling your voicemail (go via 789, it's free), select option 3 (answer service) and selecting option 3 to set your message and then option 1 from the same menu to activate it. You don't pay, and the person who is calling you just pays their normal call charges. Sorted.

Out of credit?

2. Need to speak to someone but you've run out of credit? Use the Skinny Mobile Menu to send a call me back request. Dial *888# to enter Skinny Mobile Menu, then select option 8 (other stuff), then option 2 (call me back). Bang in your mates number and bish bash bosh they get a text asking them to gve you a call. You can send up to 3 call me back requests a day for free. Sweet.

Maximise your free calling

3. Want to know if your call is Skinny to Skinny and therefore a free call or not? Given if you lucky people have an active Combo you've got those puppies all summer, I'm guessing you'd like to know, right? Text any NZ mobile number to 300 and we'll text you back and let you know if it's a Skinny number or not. All this lovliness is free. You detecting a theme here?

Pay a mate back

4. You can send cash to other Skinny users, via your phone, using your Skinny Prepaid Account Balance (in normalspeak, your credit). Isn't that nice. You do it using the Skinny Mobile Menu (dial *888#, then select other stuff from the menu, then 8, then 1). Credit can be transferred in whole dollars, with a minimum if $1 and a maximum of $50 per time. A maximum of $100 can be transferred from (out of) your account in any 7 day preiod. You can do that in 100 lots of $1 or 2 lots of $50 - it's up to you. What it definitely is is handy for paying a mate back for that drink, or helping them call their girlfriend and thus preventing relationship meltdown.

Hit up the USSD

5. Use the Skinny Mobile Menu and save yourself cash. It's free (surprise) in NZ and just about everywhere else we offer roaming services, and means you can manage all the important stuff you want from your phone, whatever phone you've got. That includes some kinda normal stuff, like checking your balance, buying top-ups and entering top-up voucher codes, and some decidedly cool stuff like call me back and credit transfer.

Stay toppped up, bro

6. Make sure you top up. Sounds kinda silly we know, but if you have enough credit, you are always going to ensure your Combo and Add-ons renew each week, and you get those mint prices, which saves you cash. Its one of those spend to save type situations, you know how it is.
