Go somewhere foreign, and still use your phone.

What's the point in being somewhere awesome when you can’t call your mates to point out how much better your life is?

Luckily, your Skinny phone means you can call and text in a bunch of countries around the world, even some spots where you can buy grilled insects on sticks. We don't do data roaming though.

Before you head off overseas, just check out whether your destination is on our list. It's also probably a good idea to check out the charges, and how you can top up and use voicemail.

How to top up your phone when you're overseas

To top up overseas, use the Skinny Mobile Menu. Just dial *888# and select "Top up" from the menu note - shortcuts don't work when roaming, but the menu and all Skinny Mobile Menu functions are avalable). It's free to use and it works just about anywhere in the world where we offer roaming services, which is primo.

Check the country you are visiting is included using the widget above. The only places Skinny Mobile Menu based Top up doesn't work right now are China, Korea and Canada. If you are heading to one of those places, please make sure you have plenty of credit before you leave.

Accessing your voicemail while you're away

To access your voicemail while you're outside NZ, you need to set up your own personal PIN. You must do this before you leave. To set your PIN, call 789 (voicemail settings) and select option 4. Your default PIN is 1234. Enter this first, then choose your new PIN.

To access your voicemail lookup 'voicemail' which is preprogrammed into your contacts, dial +64204864236 or on most phones you can just press and hold down the 1 button. Calling your voicemail while you're abroad is charged at normal roaming rates for a call to NZ.
